We are working to assure that Mount Sinai has an even greater impact on society through commercialization of our science. In my role, I am charged with evolving our technology licensing, spin-out and industry engagement efforts to this end. This vision is being further realized through changes in the graduate school and medical school curriculum, strategic faculty recruits including our new Dean for Therapeutic Discovery, Professor Scott Friedman, and Geoffrey Smith, Director for the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. Senior Management Team

Robert Hellauer - Director, Finance and Operations
Responsible for the financial and operational components of MSIP. As a member of the Senior Management Team is instrumental in development of long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies that optimize returns on Mount Sinai innovation. Directs and oversees the financial activities of the MSIP including current financial reports, summaries and forecasts for future business growth; deputizes for the VP as needed.

Sybil Lombillo, PhD, JD - Director, Intellectual Property and Asset Development
Oversees MSIP’s Patent Group, Contract Group and IP Asset Portfolio. Responsible for IP strategy development and management, including overseeing all aspects of prosecution and maintenance of over 300 active technology cases, and supporting legal and policy review of Mount Sinai transactions involving intellectual property. 

Shai Gilad, MA (Biotech), MBA – Director, Business Development and Faculty Engagement
Leads OTBD’s business development efforts and manages technology development for Mount Sinai faculty.

Ivan Galanin - Director, Commercial Development and Industry Engagement
Responsible for industry and investor engagement, negotiating optimal deal terms, and  increasing the number and quality of commercialization deals at Mount Sinai.

Responsible for the commercialization of Mount Sinai’s research reagents, diagnostics, and medical devices.

Stephen A. Atkinson – Business Development Director
Supports Mount Sinai’s Microbiology department to facilitate IP protection and commercialization of new inventions and technologies. 

Idoia Gamez, PhD, MBA - Business Development Director
Supports faculty from various departments to facilitate IP protection and commercialization of new technologies.

Industry Research RFP’s and Engagement

Louise Lammers - Manager of Technology Development Programs and Industry RFP’s
Manages industry calls for proposals to match industry interest with faculty expertise and acts as OTBD’s liaison with the Grants and Contracts Office. Works with Geoffrey Smith in the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship implementing educational programs focused on technology development at Mount Sinai.

Contracts Team

Michael Phillipps, JD – Senior Contracts Manager
Manages and negotiates agreements for Mount Sinai including License Agreements, Industry Sponsored Research Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, and Inter-institutional agreements.

Lingling Liu, PhD – Contract Associate
Manages and negotiates agreements for Mount Sinai with emphasis on enabling agreements such as Industry Sponsored Research, Material Transfer Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, and Inter-institutional agreements.

Julie Durocher – Contracts Assistant
Supports the Contracts Team in finalizing all agreements handled by MSIP.

Finance and Operations

Kachun (KC) Lee - Assistant Director, Finance and Operations
Responsible for financial planning and reporting related to discoveries made at Mount Sinai for MSIP operations.

Edrica Francis, MHA/INF - Assistant Director, Finance and Operations
Responsible for the integrity of the financial processes and Intellectual Property database system (Inteum). Optimizes systems and processes to increase productivity, reduce timeliness and efficiently allocate institutional resources within MSIP.

Deidre David - Operations Manager
Responsible for daily operation, performance, and database administration of the Intellectual Property information system (Inteum).

Jesse Chandna - Finance Manager
Manages various financial responsibilities relating to daily MSIP activity.

Danielle Forcum – Business Analyst
Assists the Finance and Operations Team in various capacities to ensure the smooth functioning and effectiveness of MSIP.

Provides strategic direction for Mount Sinai’s patent portfolio.
